The power of social networking to help a “stranger”.
By Tom on Jan 7, 2009 in Social Charity
Yesterday, David Armano (@armano) asked his social network of family, friends and professional contacts to help Daniella, a mother, of 3, in need.
Please see the original post here
Daniella is divorcing her spouse after years of abuse. In recent years her mortgage went unpaid and she’s lost her house. David took Daniela’s family, of four, into his own house in hopes of finding a one bedroom apartment for her family to live in. Daniella herself being a Romanian immigrant with very little family support she literally has no one to turn to.
All it took was a simple tweet of “Hey everyone. I am going to need a very BIG favor from you. It’s going to be asking a lot. I’ll let you know more very soon.”
Within 24 hours, David’s hope of $5000 to help get Daniella back on her feet was met and then some. At this time of this post, almost $13,000 has been earmarked for Daniella through ChipIn.
What a way to start the new year – Thank you David – your actions have impacted many lifes. To David’s network, congratulations on showing the collective power of individuals.

The power of social networking on line is amazing. I’ve noticed this too. Take Stellan for instance. A 5 month old baby. The blogging community has prayed for him before he was even born when the doctors said he wouldn’t make it. He was born healthy. Now he is suffering from the same problems he was in the womb, and once again the blogging community has come together to pray for his healing. Amazing.
